jdentification, pt 1

Well, this is going to be an experiment, ya? I'll try to make these as few and far in between so that this wouldn't become just a gimmick for a blog. Think of it as a sort of once-in-a-while things.

Ask me any question about me. It could be trivial, it could be serious. It could be a question directly related to me, it could be a reflection upon a particular event. It could be who/what/when/where/why/how, or whatnot.

Leave a comment and I will answer in the next post.

of missing pieces.

I think alot of you people have read this book called "The Missing Piece" by Shel Silverstein. It's a really popular children's book, the story of an eponymous "it" that was missing a piece, and set off in search for it. Through the "baking sun", "over land and over seas", through "swamps and jungles and mountains", "it" led an awe-inspiring journey in his search.

In the end, what was it all for? "It" found out that with the missing piece, it could no longer do all the things that were wonderful to "it" to begin with. It was changed.

Is searching for what's missing really more important than everything that we already have?

You've seen the story of the one that searches. But what about the story of the missing piece then? What about the ones that have been left waiting, for the searchers to come along? I don't think many of you have seen this one.

Maybe, sometimes we're the missing pieces. We're too afraid to change ourselves, and all we're doing to wait till the right person comes along to fit them into our lives.

So should we wait, or should we change?

Well? Are you still waiting for your missing piece?

VirusComix! presents

Things They Don't Tell You (But Should) is a brilliantly written one-shot from the creator of Subnormality!, a comic self proclaimed as "Comic with too many words since 2007". The satire is bitingly sharp, as it offers a quick and dirty primer towards the sad thing we live in called a life.

Gems in this one-shot include the two panels on the lives of pretty and ugly people.

VERSUS

It's only funny because it's so true. Give it a read, it'll only take a few minutes of your time.

Although if you like this brand of humour, you should try giving the author's Subnormality! a shot. The sharp, acidic humour is still there, PLUS there's the interesting characters like the Four Horsemen of the Atheist Apocalypse!

The above sentence contained so much win in a single sentence that my brain just imploded.

could this be - you know

Put it all back in perspective and think a little, slide the images through your mind, find the words soundless in the mind; i dream a little dream about you.

To the cities fallen to ruins in age, the falling stars waxed lyrical in their paths, for the kings and emperors thrown to their feet; i dream a little dream about you.

For the moments what could have been, for the memories lost in transition, for our futures thrown into confusion; i dream a little dream about you.

I put myself in perspective, racing you through those images in our heads, our laughter echoing those words left unsaid. We'd travel to those cities, play our melodies to the stars, weep for the rulers that once were. You'd tear for the moments, smile for the memories, and give the cutest little frown towards our mutual confusions.

I've dreamt of you today; would you dream of me tonight?

sinema yo, sinema

Well, I guess the short film I had a hand in scriptwriting / directing / editing was shortlisted for the Sinema screenings after all.

I'm totally not proud of it at all. So much more could have been done to it. It was too short, too slapdash, too emo. I didn't like it at all. It could have been so much better, had I more time, more resources, more experience. Aw shucks.

During crunchtime when we were rushing the video it was like OHSHITOHSHITOHSHIT. Filming was a hard thing to schedule/do last minute. Only one thing came to mind:

What? And give up show business?

But hell, dear readers, you may want to check it out. I'm sure the other films would be well-worth your consideration as well. Though, I hope I don't get sued/flamed by a certain Xiaxue for misrepresenation of her blog. Lollerskates.

NOBODY NOBODY BUT CHUU

OMG I FREAKING LOVE THIS SONG. BEEN "NOBODY BUT CHUU"-ING SINCE FRIDAY... THROUGH NIGHT CYCLING, TILL NOW.

Sooo catchy!

I didn't realise this... but when I looked at my iTunes...

THIS IS MADNESS.

Ram a random guy with a speeding bike, TODAY

Wow, I just rediscovered NANACA†CRASH!!, something that dates back to like, secondary school? But it's like still freaking fun...

"ZUBAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!!"

Premise is simple. You control Nanaca, who has to crash her bike into some random guy and send him flying! Various characters help you control whether he continues to fly or slow down or stop, and the objective is to keep him in the air for as long as possible.

With a delightfully chirpy soundtrack, and gloriously rendered sound effects such as "ZUBAAAAAAAAN!!!!" NANACA†CRASH!! is a horrendously fun diversion. You'll just keep playing, and playing, hoping for one more special move that sends the poor guy flying just a little bit more, no matter how painful it looks. Not to mention some of the special moves are just awesome... and the pained expression of the guy's face is priceless.

This took like 1 hour of continuous, obssessive playing to achieve. Not to mention an incredible amount of luck.

My best record was 146691.91m (I remember getting 3 of the quadraple-combo specials in a row). What's yours? =P

the importance of being honest

Yeah, let's be honest here. I rely on eye candies to get through my boring school days. To be totally honest, sometimes I go for lectures and can only stay awake (or interested) during lecture because of the off-glances I'm sneaking at Cute Girl No. 1 (or 2 or 3 depending on what lecture/tutorial it is). It's not perverted or anything, I simply accept that I would rather stay awake during a lecture then to fall asleep or not have the motivation to go for lectures at all.

GOD, I HATE HEALTH PSYCH

So, here's roughly a graph of the various situations would work for me. The line shows the requirement of hotness to achieve a more or less 100% attendance rate. How exactly does the scale work then? Let's take Eye-Candy A for instance (Note the blue X). Notice that for Biopsychology Lecture, which is interesting, Eye-Candy A fulfils the requirements for 100% attendance. That's good. However, this does not hold the case for Health Psych Lecture, where the same Eye-Candy A. The requirement for Health Psych Lecture is, unfortunately, off-the-scale, being that it got so boring once during the lecture that I spent the time composing haiku poetry about my friend's laptop named Toshi among other subjects (insert obligatory "Come ON TOSHI" line here.) Result? Shortfall. A significant chance to skip the lecture is thus factored into the early morning wake-up-should-i-sleep-in-hmm-yes routine.

Take note of Eye-Candy B, however. Lit tutorial, way exceeds minimum requirements. Result? 100% attendance, even though I am terrified of the tutorial because everyone in it is smarter than me. And the tutor scares me.

Of course, some may call shenanigans, citing mitigating factors, such as the presence of more then one potential Eye-Candy per class. To this, I say to you, bollocks good sirs, you only have one pair of eyes.

Well, we could take care of that through unorthodox means...

P.S.: Opinions expressed above not entirely serious. Attempts to judge writer's character through internet post will be counterjudged entirely laughable and made fun of. Oh, kittens will be microwaved with each judgement. Think of the kittens.

P.P.S.: I really do have at least one eye-candy per class. Rules apply.

DOEO!

Just in case you've never played it, here's another interesting little flash game for you... DOEO!

Featuring an awesome soundtrack, quirky stages, as well as simple and intuitive gameplay (you just need to move your mouse over the DOEOs as fast as you can to collect them as they appear), DOEO is a brilliant way to spend that 5 minutes of time that you have.

Just be warned, HARD difficulty is a much greater challenge then EASY... and if you're playing without a mouse, for example with a laptop trackpad, it gets a lot harder! =D

My score on HARD was 58830, EASY 44740.

Good luck collecting all the DOEOS!

REAL LIFE - ELITE BEAT AGENTS

I don't usually like to cross-post things from Digg because I have a feeling most people who read this already are going to have seen it, but this was just too cool NOT to post!

It almost makes me feel like getting a Nintendo DS. =D

P.S. The track is AWESOME.

weird stuff from japan, part 1

I found this while browsing a forum.
This is a mildly disturbing/cute song that gets into your head.
STAYS THERE. REFUSES TO GET OUT! ARGHHH!

But you know, it's really mild for something spawned of Japan.

The Above? KILL IT WITH FIRE.

sorry microsoft, you're not fooling anyone

You know how some ads sort of try to cater to niche audiences, by juxtaposing two things that do not actually belong together in a pair?

One of such a type of pairing is the gamer girl. Mix in a console of your company as well as one (or more) girls posing in a state of delirious enjoyment of whatever your product is selling, and wow, instant ad attention from the male gamer demographic (which, incidentally, is fairly large)

Like this old picture back from the days of the original XBox:

Except, you know, it'd be much more convincing if it was plugged in.

of being a hermit

Couple of days ago, one of the more popular girls in my block told me that she thought of herself as a "hermit".

Actual picture of a notorious hermit

And I was going "hmm, if you're a hermit, I must be... why indeed, without question I must be...-

Rick Astley."

*dances

How random. Whiny post minus whinyness = this.

music catch - a relaxing flashgame

The premise of Music Catch is simple: Catch Shapes with your mouse.
Yellow = Good, Red = Bad.

AND THERE'S PURPLE POWER!

But the music is really good. A relaxing instrumental piano piece.

Good way to burn 5 minutes of your time, if only to listen to the track.

My top score, 2 million points, 76 combo. =D

distracted by webcomics!

Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal is a webcomic that I've been following on a daily basis... and with good reason! It's like made of awesome...

This is abit late for Valentine's... but it's sooo subversive I just had to share it. ^_^

HO SUA

This is freakin' funny! Rihanna's Umbrella in hokkien... staged by STAGES @ The Drama Centre. I've always wanted to catch a production of Chestnuts... they seriously parody everything... =D

it's the loneliest february day

I think I'm quite a paradox.

On one hand I'm so intensely private, I need a lot of personal space. I get quite uncomfortable around attractive people, around super-confident people. I generally don't talk much and I prefer to listen.

Shit.

But I'm lonely. Sometimes I know I'm not talking enough, I wanna say stuff but I'm already so used to listening that I don't have a voice of my own. Actually, what I really mean to say is that I'm lonely.

(bonus! the above picture is actually wallpaper-sized.)

WHY.

OHSHI-

I think I am exclusive and unfriendly. =(
Shit.

I have an irrational dislike for a group of people towards which I really have no real reason for disliking. Urgh, stupid brain wiring.

WHY.
